Have a new Rossi 30-30 I would like to start loading for and am looking for some recommendations that have worked for you. Bullet, mold, powder, primer etc. Don't have a mold yet but have some forum members sending me some 160, 165 and 170 gr boolits. Still looking for some 150 gr. Will be using the gun for general plinking/range shooting not hunting at this point. I have searched the forum a bit and found some info but thought I would see if anyone else had any secret recipies they felt like sharing! Thanks in advance for all the help!

Will be using the gun for general plinking/range shooting not hunting at this point.

Lee C309-150-F or the RCBS 30-150-FN.
Lee .309 sizer and LLA (if you don't have a lubrasizer, if you do then a .310 H&I die and Javelina or 2500+ lube)
Hornady .30 cal GCs
RCBS X- dies (You won't have to rim if you FL size)
Lyman .30 cal M die

Use 2400, 4227 or 4759 with a dacron filler for 1800 - 1950 fps.

When hunting get a 311041, 30-190-SP or the C309-170-F if 200 lb+ pigs are on license. Try any of those over 26 - 28 gr of H4895. Having hunted deer over by Kerrville, the deer there can be killed very effectively with the 150 gr cast bullet and a load in the 1800 - 1950 fps range.

Mine is a marlin, not rossi and takes .311 best. PB with 4895 is good at low fps or use the GC and go faster. Almost anything 150-170 is good. I haven't had good accuracy with GC CB w/o GC. I got the 31R plug for M die due to large bullet.

30-150-fn and 24-27 grs of aa-2230 i use 24.5 for my bunch a boolits load.
mainly because it is my jaxketed 223 load.
among others.
18 grs of 2400 is another one i use a lot of in almost everything from the 30-30 through the 0-6 with nominal weight boolits.

34.5 grains of 748 behind a 170-grain J-bullet is THE load for the .30-30. Hodgdon has been screwing with the burn rate of the medium ball powders lately, I think 748 is made from cull batches of a couple of others, but it's close enough to a half-grain or so of tweaking lot-to-lot. With cast, there are probably more loads that work well than those that don't. I use everything from Red Dot to H335 in mine with cast, it just depends on what you want to do with it.

Look no further than a 6-hole Ranch Dog 165 gr. Gas check it and load it up for deer. Shoot it plain-base to 1500 fps or so for plinking.

Jr's suggestion is right on, but I'd add the 311041 to the possibles. Mid to high 20's of 3031 and you'll be set. (always double check a reload manual and don't go by the advise of unknown folks on a web site)

Larry nailed it, both my 30-30' s Marlin 336/Win 94 love the Lee 150gr or 170 gr GC over 28gr H4895! Pushes the 170gr to 1998fps -Zero leading! Get groups of 2-2.5 " at 100 yards or better when the shooter is on his game.

For plinking lee c309-170-f above 16 gr 2400 works great in my Winchester m94 trapper. About 1625 fps average and 2 inch groups at 100 yards. For hunting I put the same bullet over 28 gr 3031.

All I use my 94 for is plinking, and I mostly use Lee's C 309-113F, sized to .309, with Trail Boss, IMR-3031, or Unique. I've never found a tin can, paper plate or even a wabbit, that this boolit wouldn't handle.
I only use loads from reliable sources and don't give out loads over the internet, but you should be able to find data easily enough. I use 100% wheel weights and don't have problems with leading.

I don't mean this as a slight to the guys that do share their data. There are alot of people here that have more, and sometimes better data than the books. I'm just careful.

Guns are made to shoot, enjoy your new gun.
