I did a search and went to NOE's website looking for a 311672 Silhouette mould, but NONE. Am I missing something or has it been done?
I have one of these moulds in Lyman form, and the little bullet shoots amazingly well in my K-31's and all my '06's.

Wasn't that one of the two Lyman paper patch moulds?

The two part molds were: 358624, 429625, &452626. I don't know what a 311672 looks like but that cherrie # should be a 160gr RN GC.

Isn't that one of the Ed Harris designs for the NRA?

I'd be interested, post a couple pictures if you would.

I too have this mold. I haven't come across too much info on it when searching. Seems it's over shadowed by more popular heavy weight molds and the RCBS silhouette molds. When I've compared it to some RCBS 308-165-SIL boolits that I had on hand, the nose profile is nearly identical and overall is a little shorter.

I wanted one of the silhouette moulds because they supposedly were about ideal for K-31's. I bought my 311672 simply because the Lyman silhouette mould was cheaper than the RCBS. I'm glad I did. I get amazing accuracy out of my 1903A3's and hit on a load for my K-31 that with a 10X scope routinely groups 5 shots into 1" to 1 1/4" @ 100 yds. This without any bullet sorting and throwing the powder from the powder measure directly into the case.
I've also shot it offhand a little at 200 yds. at an SR target and it hits wherever the sights are when the rifle goes off.
Now I just need a 4-cavity so I can speed bullet production.

That's good to hear that you're having success with the mold. I've had mine for 2+ years and haven't got around to trying it.

That molds boolits are very accurate in the semi-auto French rifles (in full function loads) also.

NOE has a GB going now for a boolit close to that, a 155gr fn, that looks alot like a shorter 30-165sil

The original 311672 had what i believe to be a bore riding nose, a slope to full size diameter and grease grooves.

Lyman changed the design for the second run of molds, which don't resemble the original run, they eliminated the bore riding nose and the slope to full diameter.

The picture in post #5 is the second version.

Thanks for the history - interesting
So the samples I got are like the original or first run
Bore ride with a slope to diameter.
