This is one barrel that I've had problems with getting it to shoot. I have tryed several powder primer and Boolits both jacket and cast.
I bought a Lee 310 grn RNFP GC. I loaded it with a WLP Primer and 2400 I started a 14 grn and went up to 16. With 1/2 grn increments my first group clover leafed at 1 in at 50 yds my 1093 fps average and spread was 32 fps
At the top end I was running at 1238 fps for a average and the spread was 11
My alloy was WW and a mix of range pickup. Sized at 429 with no gas check.
I haven't punched the tube yet but she looks clean.
I was also useing Tac 1 for my lube.

it's making it across the gap straight and is being supported by the case and the bbl making a smooth transition.

What length and style barrel?

Looks like a load to be reckoned with.

Think I will see what the Ranch Dog and 10" SS TC barrel will do with those loads

I have RD's, and am flat out of 310s. oo lazy ti cast any 310s as all I have is an old single cavity (maybe double, but I don't think s).

Good deal. I ran some Devastator's, and the Lee 310 through my 14" last weekend, and found them both to hit about a foot high at 50yds. My loads were using the 297 powder, 21grs for the Lyman and 20grs for the Lee, both lit with CCI-350 primers.

Not sure what the velocity was from the Contender, but they totally rocked the 6gal bucket of sand I was using to catch my boolits. I got the Lyman's back but the Lee's went right on through.

I think I might give 2400 a try and see how it does with them both.

My barrel is a super 14 witha muzzle break witch extends it to just over 16"
I know one thing when you light it off you know it.
I also shot it in my SBH and at 16 grn of powder and over 900 fps it is a hand full

My 'tender has a shorter 8.4" barrel. The 270 gr Devastaor and the 270 gr Thompson 429244 (what both of mine cast out at fully dressed with WWs +2% Sn + 50% PB) both run 1485 fps over 23 gr H110 and are both very accurate. I magine the 21 gr load of 296 is probably close to the same out of the 14" barrels, my load runs 1570 out of a 16" M94. PSI for my load is a measured (M43 Oehler) 30,200 out of the 'tender.
