Today I received in the mail a 311008 I bought from a fellow member. Very soon I had a double handful cast of the little buggers. All went well and they mic about .3126 which is just what I wanted because the cyl on my ruger 32 mag mics .312. Not planning on sizing these just gonna cookie cutter the lube off with a cut off 30-06 case that will fit over them.

While casting I thought these might make a good plinker in my 30-30 with a little smidgen of clays.

I'm sure lots of you guys have tried this or something similar. Anybody got any recipes, advise, concerns. Thanks, Woody

Tumble lube in LLA or lube with a soft lube. Size at .311 load in the 30-30 over 2.7 gr Bullseye and 3.2 gr bullseye in the '06. You'll be amazed and pleasantly pleased with the accuracy at 50 yards, no recoil and minimal noise. Deadly for small game also.

Thanks Larry, I was hoping you would chime in. The only 30 cal sizing die I have at this time is .309 I don't know which 06 the case I'll use as a lube cutter was fired in or if it was even mine but the boolit is a slip fit. It won't fit in a fired case from my 30-30 though so they will have to be sized down for it anyway.

Wolfer,
I have been shooting the 311008 quite a bit lately in a my Winchester 94 "homemade Trapper". On the advice of fellow members here I am using Unique and large pistol primers. Large pistol primers got rid of the flyers over using large rifle primers.
Using the 311008(ACWW, sized .310 and FWFL lube) and large pistol primers I was able to get up to 8.0 or 8.5 grains of Unique with no leading and reasonable accuracy, a little over 1 1/4"@35 yds. and a velocity around 1540-1590 fps. This is pretty good for me and my eyes these days using iron sights
Using that same bullet, lube and primer plus a PB gas check I was able to go up to 10.0 grains of Unique with no leading and slightly better goups. I did not go higher because groups were starting to open up. Best accuracy was @ 9.5 grains Unique with groups right at 1" @ 35 yds. These are the best groups I have fired in awhile using iron sights. Velocity @ 9.5 grains of Unique IIRC was just above 1700 fps. and recoil in my Winchester 94 feels about like a 22 mag.
This has become my walking around/ truck gun load.
Good luck, jmsj

I shoot the 311008 in 30-06. 10 gr/Unique shoots best-1 1/4", 5 shots, at 100yds. Standard LR primer, ACWW, Felix lube, sized .311 and goes about 1550fps. Nice mild load. I also tried 2400, Red Dot, and 4227. All shot pretty good, but Unique was the best out of my Mod 70. Like Larry says, good for small game. That flat point gives a satisfying "thwack" when it hits a groundhog and the shock lays them out pretty good.

In some 94's the .309 dia with that boolit works pretty good. One of my brothers has a 1970's 94 that he loads that very boolit with (.309) as his favorite plinker. I don't know anyone with a 30-06 that has tried that boolit in though. Like any other rifle, slug it first to determine the size you need. some of those early post-64 Winnies have a fairly tight bore.
