Fired this group off cross stixs last date from 800 yards with the Shiloh 45 2 7/8 using a paper patch bullet of 528 grs. and a Black Magic lube cookie of .400" thickness. Cases were Starline...as I have all the Norma loaded; got to order 200 more soon! First shot was on edge of 10 ring plate at 2 o/clock; came L 1 MOA and fired the remainder of shots calling 3 rounds slightly low but they still hung inside the 10 ring. I told Doc Lay a couple of days back the rifle was shooting pretty good from 600 yards and he advised that if it was shooting good from 600 it should shoot good from 800 and it do! After breaking the shot and following through I could roll over and watch the slugs strike inside the white. Real kick in the **** it is! Alloy is 1-40 by the way. Compression on the powder was .364" and bullet patched with paper with thickness of .0018". No leading! I've fired two groups within the last 30 days; one a 96 score...the other a 95 with this one besting those two! Once in a while and old man with 72 year old eyes finds an acorn. KIK 2F just doesn't seem to be accurate! Once upon a time I regularly used the aperture front sight but lately it seems that my old Service Rifle eyes are coming back as the post front sight seems to work better for me! :holysheep:-(:killingpc

Nice shooting. Have you tried the kik with a magnum primer?

[smilie=s: Don't let him fool ya he shot that with his palma rifle at 30 yds.:bigsmyl2:

Kokomo, the magnum rifle primer makes the fouling drier and harder with the KIK. Best primers that I've used so far are either large pistol magnum or just plain large rifle's. I just got a carton of br-2's to try, have heard some awfully good things about those and KIK.

That looks pretty darn good! Would you care to share info on the bullet? Whos mould and what diameter was the bare bullet?

Thanks

I have 3 bullets that shoot really well; two KAL cupped base moulds with flat meplat and both will hang with this BACO PP Money Bullet mould back to 600 yards for accuracy! With this BACO I have exactly 10 MOA less at 800 yds. than with the flat meplat bullets. Those are basically what I hunt with. The BACO bullet drops from the mould at .446", I wet patch and dry on a warming plate and then run all through a Lee Precision .451" sizing die! All these were seated .220" into the case (7* leade) and a very light taper crimp applied! When these are chambered I can feel the patch sliding against the grooves as they're seated with just light thumb pressure!

This is with the rifle I put your barrel on!!;):-P

Thank you for the detailed information.

Do you run your hunting bullets any differently?

Rather I think, if anything it's the 'show off' of the knowledge of some people that have delved into shooting PP for quite sometime and who were willing to share their knowledge! I just have had enough intellect to listen to them and apply what was offered to me! The 45 2 7/8 is one great cartridge!:idea:

It's nice to see a target like that. It gives me something to shoot for

This is the MAIN REASON I post some targets from time to time; to give others that love the LONGER CASES the knowledge that they will perform....once the right recipe is found and the right 'duck feather' to stroke them with! For shooters whom love shooting long range....there isn't too much of a bigger BANG....than breaking a good shot and immediately telling ones self "this one should be in there" and then rolling over and looking through the spotting scope and observing the round you just fired strike near the center!! I LOVE IT!![smilie=1::drinks::-D

Here's another one...that knows about which I am speaking:

Do you use the same diameter bullet for hunting or do you reduce for loading fouled?

No! Bullet diameter is reduced!:castmine:

For your hunting bullets are you using the same bullet and wrap as your target bullet and then just running it through a smaller Lee size die?

Sorry if I ask too many questions - I am trying to head into the PP direction and am tying to use your information to help me buy the right tools.

Hunting I use a KAL mould with a meplat of .160" and patch to .448!
