View Full Version : Edge Dies 7/8-14 Swage Dies

People have been asking me for some pictures of my 7/8 dies for a reloading press. Im finally getting caught up filing orders. I have 4 or 5 more to fill. But for those of you who would like to see what they look like, here is a picture. The copper bullets have been tumbled, and the brass bullets were made with fired .22 LR cases.

Dies from left to right are Point form, core swage, core seat, de-rimming die.

Nice work' The concept is not new but it works very well'
Dies that cost $$$$ s are the same design.
I think that system is really the proper way to swage bullets.
I have used the other types also. {blackmoun}
Corbin use to make a set like these years ago .

Question.

I went to the website but the picture was different for the .224 swage dies. There were only 3 in the photo. I did not see the derimmer with the punch. was it just left out of that photo? I would not mind trying a set and for the $349 price it looked awfully tempting. I just want to make sure. I am just getting into reloading and swaging is a brand new thing to me as well...

Also, I have a Lee CLassic turret press but for this stuff I picked up a 1975 RCBS Jr Reloader today. It looked barely used, actually, not even mounted yet but at $25.00 I thought it was a good purchase. I hope these would work okay on that press.

Ah man. That is a fantastic deal for an RCBS JR. I have swaged many .224 projectiles on one of those.

From what I have seen (pictured above) the dies look fantastic. For 349 four die set. Cannot go wrong there.

Oh really so then it is decent to use? That is good to read. I came here initaly for the 22lr brass converters/swaging dies and all but I have found all kinds of cool dies that I could run. Since I have a lot of 9mm brass I figure that I can use those too but for now one die at a time.. (yes pun intended)

Utah Shooter

Well welcome. The 22 cal dies are what get me started as well. I suggest you run away though. You WILL get sucked in here.

Yeah no doubt. In a few weeks I might be found in my room with my head exploded and bits of information all over the walls... I really should leave now to escape my impending doom...

Where the copper jacketed bullets formed in your dies as well. They appear to have a smaller meplat?

Yes, the copper ones were made in my die. I used a point bump die that i burned w/ the EDM. The brass jacketed bullet seem to wrinkle if i go much smaller than the picture shows. Im sorry for not responding too much, ive been very busy. Let me know if any of you are interested in a set. Feel free to shoot me a Pm, or we can talk on the phone.

The set does come with the de-rim die. Its not extra. Im charging 349 for a set.

Im also very excited to announce that i am having an old machinst friend start building presses for me. The press is much like the Corbin H Press or the Walnut Hill from RCE. Its all machined 1" steel, machined guide rods on bushings. Its very stout. Will be compatible with Corbin H dies (i dont have any dies for the walnut hill, so i dont know if they are directly compatible or not, im sure some of you guys know) I will get some pictures of the press posted in the next few days. Hes finishing up the prototype right now. We have swaged some big ol' .458 bullets @ 500 gr. with it, and it was pretty effortless. The press will also have a removable pin on the toggle, that will allow the press to be used for reloading.

Okay, here's the deal guys. I am not MIA, i didnt skip out with anyones money, i didnt try to cheat anyone. About a month ago, i got bit by a brown recluse spider on my elbow. It wasnt good, it rotted my elbow away down to the bone for the most part, then while that was on the mend, the infection from the spider bite got into my blood, and made me very very sick. It didnt look good.... Anyhow, im not trying to make excuses or anyhing. that is just what is going on, im on the mend now. As for the shipping problem, i confused your dies, and another customers dies, and both were returned to me last friday marked undeliverable. If you want your money back, PM me, ill give your money back and sell the dies elsewhere, it was an honest mistake. Either way, i have my cell phone back with me now, so give me a call.

The price from DanR doubled...darn. For two hundred more I could go with BT Sniper's but for a few hundred more above BT, I could go with Corbin's kit. Man... what to do.

I just spoke to Colt's mother on the phone, she sounds like a darling of a lady.
Colt is recovering well from the spider bite and his dear ol' dad has been changing the dressings daily for him.. There are a few parcels returned to her address and one of them was initially destined for Nebraska, so if thats your address I know where your order is, anyways dear ol' mom there says Colt should be up and at em pretty quick and first thing on his adgenda is to reply to all the emails and PM's he has not been answering.

Not only is the spider venemous, it has one of the dirtiest bites you can get. Every time you need to get an antibiotic because it will cause a cellulitis infection. Very debilitating. See a Dr.

I'm a long time lurker but its too bad, his dies seem promising at a nice price. I don't think Colt can recover from this reputation killing move unless he post a pic of himself in the hospital with his arm rotted off. One should always deal with people with a good reputation and in good standing with the community.

Duke at the time I got my dies BT was not making any or was anyone else making any for sale. I got dies from BT and would have gotten my 224 dies from him also. It was not a matter of saving money but getting dies that would work in the presses i already own. I understand your a fan of BTs and do not have a dog in this fight so why do you insist on commenting. Its not helping anyone. If you have anything helpful please share.

DukeInFlorida
08-27-2012, 07:01 AM
BT was very much talking about upcoming 224 sets. Why do you think I and a bunch of others held off, waiting? It was due to BT's reputation for honesty in business, and quality in product.

Versus jumping the gun, and getting.... well.... stuck as a few have.

You guys should, at this point:
1) Get 45Nut (Ken) to allow you to post a DEADBEAT thread, detailing the situation.
2) Consider taking legal action, in small claims court to get $$$ and press back.
3) Do a little detective work, and find other ways to get to this deadbeat. Job? Where's he living? Sending demand notices to his employer will get him in hot water at work, etc.

Unless you guys are still buying the spider bite BS...........

Well again thanks for all the support and ideals but back to what I said he was not making them at the time. And waiting for a unknown date of when is not my ideal of being smart. But back to the point you dont have a dog in this fight so why are you so hard press in lighting up a torch and picking up a rope to hunt him down. Was I over on the 45/70 brass buy beating a dead horse. Step back and look at the over all pic and say to yourself are you past being helpful and moved on to something else?

BTW anyone that has a set of his dies and on the nose die ejection rod, I kept bending mine so I drilled it out to 3/32 and got a SS tig welding rod for a ejection rod works great for me. Sorry to hear others got screwed over on the deal. If he heat treated the dies and followed threw with his orders this was a cheap set of dies to see if you wanted to start out with. Maybe someone will pick up making dies around the same price range for those that want to test the waters.

Yep! Still a scare on the face of this great swage sight and a wound that still must hurt several here.

You mentioned a cheap allternative for anyone wanting to test the waters of swaging....... I still, and will always say there is no better, or cheaper option then the 40 cal one step die!

Good shooting and swage on!

Maybe someone will pick up making dies around the same price range for those that want to test the waters.

I'm not sure there is a way to make a "cheap" set of dies, sell them, keep food in the belly and a warm fire going. At least at current demand levels and end user expectations.

I have to say BT that die is a great one I have one BTW and works great. I was mainly saying for all the guys making 224 dies this guy jumped out with a die set that was priced cheap enough to get the fill of fully. And was before you got your package deal going. Which from looking at others your are the best dies for the money.
