Does anyone know when Lee made these molds, picked one up today (unused) until I got home, washed it up and poured some lead, a beautiful 200gr W C, the gent I got it from had it for about 7yrs and never used.

They stopped making a 44 cal 208 gr WC about 6 years ago or so. Is this a 44 or something else? I only saw a 2 cavity available when I bought one.

Lee mad 2 different ones for the 44. One was the 208 gr and I believe but am not positive, the other was like 180gr. Don't know why they stopped but there are few 44 cal WC moulds out there for some reason.

I would really love to get one! Guess I'll have to keep my eyes peeled at the gun shows and gun shops. I love WC's.

Nice!!!

A 44wc is one of my favorite bullets to cast/load/shoot. Having a 6 cavity mold would be sweet!!!

I just got an old Lee single cavity .44 WC mold. Slow going but I don't need large amounts of these. Even though it's an old well used mold it still works fine, and the price was good. Tried it in a .444 H&R single shot over Trailboss, only fair accuracy, maybe 4" at 50 yds. Next I'll try it in a Ruger SBH .44 mag for a target load. It drops boolits at .431" so no sizing needed for my gun. Just tumble lube them.

The Lee WC and HP moulds are hard to come by but but can be had if you keep an eye out. Someone ran a GB a few years ago on a WC mould.

I think my Lee 6 cavity 44 208gr wc mold is about 20 yrs old. I picked up 4cavity MiHec HBWC molds last fall in 38 and 44. The only thing I like more than a WC is a Hollow Base WC. Loaded backwards, they are my favorite revolver bullets.

MiHec listed 2 of the .432 and 1 of the .434 4 cavity HBWCs as still available in Feb 2012.

+1

I like my MiHec HBWC 44 cal mold also but my lyman 185g WC's shoot just as accurate.

It's truely hard to beat a WC boolit in a 44, their accuracy rivals my 38 WC loads.

Many years ago Lee offered a 2-cavity 44 caliber mold that was a real light weight for the caliber. I bought and still have one of those. The side of the block is marked "429-162WC". Actual boolit weight with WW material was very close to the claimed weight on the side of the block. Imagine firing off a 44 revolver with a boolit that weighs the approximate same as the standard 38 caliber 158 grain round nose boolit. I shot a lot of these at local matches against guys with 1911s in the big bore pistol class, and the 44 always did well. Group accuracy at 25 yards was better than one would expect. In recent years I have seen very few of these offered for sale.

Many thanks for those who responded, average wgt of the bullet dropped is a 203gr, # on the mold is 90333 and bullet dia dropped is .431, by the replies seems I found a little jewel.

I just bought a 5 cavity NOE 432-230 WC. Casts swell, but I have not had much opportunity to shoot it yet. The lack of load data had me going slow and weak, but 5.0 grains of Unique seems fine in my Ruger Flattop. Until I can get out to the outdoor range, I can't chronograph them. The indoor range doesn't allow you forward of the firing line.

I love mine!
I have both the 2-cavity and 6-cavity. Got the sixbanger from Germany, some firm had it on a shelf new-in-box and it cost my shirt, but I just had to have it.

I load it over 5.1gn of Vihtavuori N32C or 6.0gn of N340.

Nice. I'm jealous. Mine is a single cavity. Loaded up two batches in .44 Special cases, off to the range today for bench test in a Ruger SBH. As cast, about .431", ww, tumble lube, seated long for slight squeeze fit in chamber throat. Starting charges of Trailboss and Bullseye for comparison. We'll see. EDIT; Back from the range. I rode my Kawasaki 650 dualsport (get it?) motorcycle to save some gas. Packed the Ruger in a back pack. Anyway, the Lee wadcutter did ok, better with Bullseye than Trailboss. Maybe 4" at 25 yds. Could be with some more tweaking it will tighten up. No leading, both loads were clean although the cases were a little sooty.

I have a Lee WC .44 cal mold. So far only indifferent accy, nothing to be impressed with,
but I have not done very much testing with it.

Another thing on the "round tuit" list!
