on the recommendations here, I bought a bottle

bought one of those snap lid containers like RunFiveRun (I think) talked about

put some rusty moulds in it and put it up on a shelf

gave it a swirl once a day, and after a week ( finally had time to get at them ) took them out and rinsed them.

OY... nice and clean.

now... how to keep the rust OFF??? I need to pick up some of those sheets of "Stuff" that keeps rust at bay.

Thanks for the recommend, guys!

I've not used this product but I don't see why it wouldn't work. At Woodcraft stores they sell tool box lining material that also incorporates VCI's I think I would wrap the mold in a tissue then a piece of this and a plastic bag.
I've used the same stuff without VCI to line my toolbox drawers with it works well but I don't know if I would trust bare steel against it for an extended time. Also if you purchase any kind of VCI wrap material make sure it's bagged as eventually the VCI's evaporate.

An overnight soak has been more than enough for anything I treated with EvapoRust. An hour is usually enough for a flea market bought mold.

rust is oxidization.
keep them away from oxygen,an oil coating,or sealed container with disilica packs usually turns the trick.
