In my quest of hitting the gas stations for wheel weights the last 2 weeks, I've done pretty well with maybe 150 pounds collected so far. In looking thru them , I've found a few real honkers !! In the pic below, the tops ones are real thick, and the bottom weights are really long. I put a normal wheel weight on the right for a visual comparison. The top weight must weigh 8 or 10 ounces !! That one qualifies as a runner up for the wheel weight hall of fame. The little ones on the left caught my attention. Thet looked different , were shiney, and had an 'S' or a '5" in the middle. They would barely cut with a pair of side cutters and they wouldn't hardly scrape with a knife. I found my first zinkers !!!!!!!!!!!! That means my zinc virginity has now gone ....
I'm really glad I found the zinc weights as now I have a benchmark to compare other weights to when in question using my cutting/scraping method of testing. They are really hard ... I also found 4 riveted steel weights that stuck to a magnet. As soon as I can get a nice free day without chances of rain (This IS Ohio .... wait 5 minutes and the weather WILL change), I'm looking forward to smelting, and getting some boolets made. I have some shootin' to do !!!!!

They are some big honkin' weights!

I found some zinc weights that look just like you describe. A close up for the masses:

Those big one's are for trucks.

Ran many a mile with hunks like that on the semi's.

Do I need to suggest you WW seekers should be visiting truck tire shops??
