I ain't ashamed to own up to it. I can't shop and I don't wanna learn. Usually if I don't see it at a gunshow and MidwayUSA doesn't have it, I'm spent. Well, I need a guncase for this rifle. No hard cases and something in C-note range. Something that fits the theme of the rifle too. No tacticool black cordura ****.

I'm also trying to nail down what would be a great companion to the rifle as far as pistol. Obviously, this is no period correct, collectors dream, reenactment piece. It's just a rifle I am VERY fond of and would be my go to gun for "Adventures of a non specified purpose" which loosely translates to bumbling around the woods for no reason other than to get away. I have a bead on a new Blackhawk in .357 but I dunno, it doesn't seem to mate well with the rifle. I may look for an old smith M&P revolver in 45 acp or soemthing along that line.

I have a bayonet that fits the rifle. I am currently restoring it with some cool grips and a blade reshape. I sure hope it'll take a good edge.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any opinions.

Oh, I guess I should say, the rifle is a 2A Ishapore. I braided the sling meself. The bandolier came from an ebay seller in London several years ago. I have NO idea what it was ever for originally. and the lead headed beauties are 168g GC from a lee, tumble lubed over 12.5g of Unique in Hornady match brass and a Win primer. The rifle is a HOOT. Not sure in all thses years I've had more fun with a bolt action rifle.

THANKS! It looks like something they'd make. It's SUPER well built. Brass buckle and a brass clip for something like a canteen or ???

I love it. I think I gave like $50 for it, shipping and all. It was pricey I know, but I'm happy with it.

Check Midway or Midsouth Shooters Supply on the net. A nice natural canvas case would be good, or a brown denier nylon case. Another route would be a leather case but would probably have to be made at an upholstery shop. Midway has a nice canvas case called "Alaskan Gun Case" for $70 #562-026 or # 938-483.

A perfect companion handgun would be a Webley revolver.

A perfect companion handgun would be a Webley revolver.

I did everything I could to trade for an Enfield No.2 MkI revolver today. The 38/200 is not the world's greatest ballistic achievement but the loads I use in the rifle aren't either. I want it BAD, but I can't pry the old fart's fingers off of it. {The old guy is my best friend BTW:razz:}

I would dearly love to have a Webley in a non-bastardized war finish condition. I've had a chance at a .45ACP conversion or two, but Nah, I'll pass. The .455 Webley doesn't need any help. I'm not rich, but I would CERTAINLY fork over the $$$ for the PROPER brass, dies and mold and craft each one with painstaking care.
I've always had an affection for top break revolvers. A schofield replica in .38 special would be cool too.
I just need something to wage war on small rocks and such. I'm a 34 year old child who just likes to play in the woods. I'm a dirt clod and tree stump murdering mad man!

Try Boyt. Midway even sells their stuff. They make really nice gun cases in Canvass and leather.

Less than $100 will get you where you want to go. This is good quality stuff biut not over priced.

Norbrat nailed it for the companion revolver.

Well, the Webley certainly would be a great choice but I think I just held the best choice. One of two. First was a Mauser broomhandle in 9mm and the other was a Chinese Shansei in .45 acp.

*Sigh* how'm I gonna come up with the $$$? That's the next question.

Try looking here (http://www.boytharness.com/inventory.asp?CatId={6D8C1062-2237-46AF-B8B8-67CD1821965C}), then you have an idea what you will want.

And your sling really caught my eye. Nice!

Thanks. I braided three rows of a Solomon's knot then laced them together. It's actually very comfortable and I made it just a touch tight [short] thank goodness as it has stretched a bit and now is the perfect length for getting the tension I need to shoot.

To boot, I can unbraid it as needed if i ever need to tie up something. Paracord is some great stuff.

This is a heavy canvas case that breaths also to keep your gun from rusting.

Boyt make excellent gear. Top shelf!

If security is a concern, Beretta make gun bags with built in cut resistant metal mesh. They lock off and the steel cable has a loop on the end, It can be passed around an anchor like a seat base and locked off. Great quality, but they ain't giving them away.

I've bought a couple of nice looking, sturdy old timey type sleeves from muzzleloaderbuilderssupply.com. Just put a new to me trapdoor in one of them.
Down the bottom of this page (http://www.muzzleloaderbuilderssupply.com/mbs2cart/agora.cgi?cart_id=6963397.8426&product=Leather&Cloth-Goods) are the pictures. A good deal, and nice people to deal with imho.

Well, I haven't got a case just yet, but did manage to build a scope mount for it that does NOT modify the gun in any way at all. I just removed the rear sight and made a block to fit the rear sight base. I'm working out how to build a micro tool set that[screw driver, punch and a piece of solid brass for a hammer], along with the rear sight, will fit in the buttstock trap door. I loathe the chop, cut, rebuild cråp of old war horses. At least years ago, gunsmith's took pride in fit and finish. Now we live in a world of plastic crapola. SO, despite the goofy look of scout scope set up, I can shoot it easier, but put it back the right way in less than 15 minutes.

The 2x Nikon pistol scope will help my deteriorating eyes.

I had a similar issue with the Lehigh 50 cal muzzle loader I just finished. I wanted a "traditional" looking case and ones for sale commercially are $$$$$$. While nice I can't afford the cost. I saw several pictures of buffalo hunters and plains indians that had canvas or burlap covers on the single shots, especially when they were riding over long distances.

So I checked a local fabric store and bought 2 yards or natural colored soft burlap and same amount of a padding material. I laid out the fabric on the garage floor, doubled it over and then wrapped it over the gun. I pinned the edges and trimmed them to be sort of the shape of the gun. I then sewed the padding inside the two layers and then sewed the outside edge. I left the end open and it wraps around the butt of the stock. Cost about $30 for all. The hardest part was turning the case inside out so the sewing would not show, whew!

Most likely not what you have in mind.....:bigsmyl2:

Here is a 1880's period Metis scabbard I made for my muzzle loaders some years ago.
A couple of my Plains style scabbards, and a holster thrown in for good measure that I also made.
