is there a powder measure that has a automatic powder knocker? would one be usefull on a powder measure? I seen a old measure that had a manual knocker on it. I was thinking comming up with one, usefull or useless? :?:

I know some guys attach small fish tank air pumps to Dillon measures. Don't know why it would not work on others.

A lot of guys use the Lee auto indexing turret. The powder measure gets "knocked" 3-4 times. lol

I am sold on knockers.
No,,, Not that kind,,,, OK,,,, that kind too.
I use the double knock method with all loads.
I do not trust automatic measures with Mickey Mouse linkage systems. Peer E Od. Fifty years experience as a aircraft mechanic, millwright, welder, fabricator, machinist, caused that.
I have used the manual Dillon measure on a 450, 3 Uniflows, two little Dandy measures and they will always drop perfect loads with every powder I use if I do the double knock method.

I happen to be working on a Rube Goldberg style, measure pull cord system, so I can use the Little Dandy I replaced the Lee measure with on my LoadMaster, without reaching up.
I have some ideas on how to make two knockers work with it.
I am also doing some research on using micro switches and a 12 volt stepper motor.
Since that one would be automatic, I would only trust it if it had two knockers.

Just thinking out loud here, but are you trying to use the momentum of the "steps" in the motor to shake the powder loose?

What about something like a microswitch to activate power to a 555 chip and a pull solenoid to tap on the powder measure. It should be fairly cheap to put together. You may have to use a relay to activate the solenoid.

The cool thing is, I have a friend that writes software for people like McAfee, the US Navy, Casino's around the world and,,, he is an inventor that has a CNC mill and a lathe etc etc.
The guy is a computer and electronic genius that will help me with it if I go for it.
I love to tinker with stuff but to tell the truth, the simple vibrator idea's sound great.
An old cell phone charger could power it. Just so happens, I have both.

I have a little hobby lathe that I am making the pull cord mechanism with. I have it almost all made and bought some music wire to wind a spring for it.
I also bought some Lexan tube to make a clear drop tube just cause I can.
If I like it, I may share some of the tube, I had to get about 16" of it.
I will post photo's if and when I get it working.
