I was at a local indoor range and picked up an old Ideal two cavity gc mold #319295 for $20.00. Would this be for some of the oversized Enfield 303's or 7.62*54R M-N?

It's a flat nosed .32-40 boolit. Can be used in small bored 8mm rifles also. Then some old single shots that are chambered for 8.15X46R.

I guess I need to start looking at rifles then.

Billairgun: That mould might have some utility if you come across one of the tight bored Marlin 336s,that fttt are encountered with .318 groove diameter...B-I-L looking for something right now to feed the 2 he acquired recently, neither of which will chamber a round using the "standard"(nowadays) RCBS 32-170-FN..Could be the least expensive route to follow, EXCEPT for e-baying your new treasure !! fwiw , Onceabull

I have a use for it if you want to get rid of it. Where in Illinois?

Billairgun:

It was designed as one of the first of the Ideal gas-check bullets, a 174-gr. flat point "...for .32-40 high power rifles." Made in the old solid-block Ideal moulds from 1906 through 1915, and in the "modern" detachable blocks from 1925-6 through 1967. For a while, in the early days, you could also buy a separate, soft-tip mould to go with it.

I'm about 20 miles south east of Springfield.

That would be close to Taylorville. I see a lot of hits from there on GB lists.

I have to try that! I will buy a mold first and tell the wife I need a gun for it.
Can anyone use a frying pan with a face shape in it?

I could use that mould. Got a 8x72 JR Sauer combination gun to feed.

I've shot at the Taylorville gun club CMP highpower and vintage rifle matches, and hope to get to shoot at the M1 carbine matches if I can get one from the CMP before the gov gets his gun bans through. I think I'll start looking for a GEW88 to go with the mold, it would be fun to have for a vintage match.

Can't use one, but I have fun imagining the sound! :drinks:
