What are you using? I have a Ruger SSM, looking for midrange to upper end to see what the new boolit will do. Can I get there with Trailboss? Thanks!

Boy, I hope some people chime in on this one.
This is just what I am about to start on. I was looking for similar velocities out of a similar pistol, a SS Ruger Single-Six with a birdshead grip and a 4 5/8" barrel. I casted and sized the bullets saturday night and expanded and primed the brass last night.
I have not found any published data for the 32 H&R mag and 115-120 grain bullets. I found some posts here and on that advise was thinking about starting w/ 4.5 grains of Unique. I am sure dualsport and I would appreciate any advise.
Thanks, jmsj

Accurate Arms #7 is probably going to be the go-fast powder. Charges will be well above published charges in the factory manuals. I used #7 in my S&W M16 with Lyman 311008s. Accurate Arms lists 6.0gr in Federal cases with CCI 500 primers under both a 100gr cast and 100gr JHP at 20,000cup. I used higher charges with the 120ish gr Lyman boolit. Your gun may or may not tolerate it.

1.4 grains of Bullseye is for 50 yards, up to 1.9 grains Bullseye for 100 yards.

I should mention I got the plain base option on my NOE 314008.

I have got grreat results with Unique and hte RCBS 98 gr. I start at 4 gr and accuracy goes after 4.4 gr. I was going to decrease 10% for the heavier boolit but have not got that on the project list yet,

Shooter6br,
Thanks for the MD Smith link. I was going to start w/ 4.5 grains of Unique but now I think I'll back down to 4.0 grains.
Thanks jmsj

You can't overload it with 296 or H110, and you'll be right speedy. Accurate #9 and Ramshot Enforcer can overload it, but will burn somewhat cleaner and possibly give a touch more speed if you are careful.

I shoot tons of them loaded with 5.5gr. AA#5 and the #3118 in my S&W, TC, Rugers, etc. Not a terribly hot load but easy to shoot and very accurate. It's my Hunter Pistol load, never fails to take a target if I can hit it. Cast from air cooled wheelweights and lubed with 50/50, never a hint of leading - there's no need for hard boolits at this level. About 1150 fps in the 6 inch revolver.

I use 4.5 grains herco with great accuracy about 1050 fps good ground squirrel load

OK, I got to try the plain base NOE 314008 today. Using 2.2 gr. of Trailboss in a Ruger SSM I shot the smallest 6 shot group I've ever shot with an iron sighted handgun, 1 5/8". That was at 25 yds. resting my hands on sandbags. Three of them were touching. I'm guessing in a Ransom Rest that would have been under 1 ". Good day for me, had a lot of no-gos lately. With my spirits up I decided to try offhand, old school style with one hand. This has been my curse forever. Thinking this may be the day things change, I shot a 9" group with the same gun and load. Oh well.
