I was at the only gun show location in the Las Vegas Area today, where powder and primers can be sold. There is a vendor that comes in from California for this show and he usually has a huge display of Cast Bullets, Powders and Primers.

We today he had a ton of Powder and Cast Bullets but only 3 boxes of LP Magnum Primers. I said to him, they must have cleaned you out of Primers yesterday. He laughed and said, no they didn't, that the 3 boxes on his table was all that he had to bring in when he came in on Friday. He says that he has been back ordered on Primers for the last two months and he is not getting any in at all.

When I got home, I checked Powder Valley and they are out of all "Wolf Primers" but seem to have a good supply of others. Has anyone been seeing shortages of Primers at their local vendors or favorite online vendors?

Stores around my area have good quantities, but they are price crazy 35.00 for 1k....

I'm hoping this is just a little blip in supply to even out the flood that occured after the last shortage. And not the "O" factor.

I bought 5000 Rem 5 1/2 SP pimers from Grafs recently for $109, w/shipping & haz-mat they were $28 per K. I could not find any standard locally under $37.50 per K so I will use magnum primers in many of my loads assuming accuracy doesn't suffer too much.

Picked up some small and large pistol primers (CCI) Friday on sale at Grice's Gun Shop in Clearfield, Pa. for $23.90 a thousand. Needed some CCI small rifle but they were out. They had a good supply of pistol and lg. rifle, though.

Still have a good supply but they jumped to $35/1k from $27 after restocking... makes me mad that they don't give a discount on a brick over 100 primer sleeves.

With local prices at near $40/K, it's easy to justify buying online.
Powder Valley is no longer able to get Wolf primers due to internal issues at Wolf. Hopefully that doesn't last long or else another shortage may well be on it's way.

Picked up 50K Winchester Small and Large Pistol Primers at the wholesale house last Friday... Salesman told me that there may be a primer shortage coming by early summer from what he has been told.. He has been back ordered for 3 weeks on a 1 million CCI Primers, and he only got in 200K of the 500K Winchesters he ordered 2 weeks ago...

I thought there were no more Wolf's but Tula was the same manufacturer with a different name? I just checked PV and they have everything but 209 shotshell primers in the Tula brand..

I thought so, too. But the two companies don't like being confused. They manufacture their products in the same factory complex, but, apparently, are totally separate operations.

As for primers....
I haven't seen any shortages lately. In fact, I've actually seen several of my local merchants getting more shipments of stuff they weren't fully stocked on.

Our local Sportsman's Warehouse doesn't have a single pistol primer on the shelf. I wonder if DHS ordering 450 million rounds of 40 S&W has anything to do with pistol primers being scarce? I just ordered a couple of cases of rifle primers from Grafs but they didn't have any pistol ones.

Update, I just checked their web site. They do have pistol primers, but not the Russian ones or any cheap ones. But Federal and CCI are in stock now.
