Hi,

Where can one find detailed pictures/drawings of the following?;

old Lyman #452490 @ 230 gr

#452423

#425424

Have not been able to find the old 230 gr 45 acp Lyman.

Also, where on this forum should I search if I wanted to "Design" a 45 acp (45 Auto) bullet?

This is the forum for design discussion and help, so fire away.

The Lyman 230-grain .45 ACP "ball" copy is #452374, also modified to be a hollow point design they call the "Devastator".

If you want dimensional drawings, good luck. All of Lyman's moulds are cherry-cut, and as the cherries wore out and were replaced over the years the designs changed slightly. Sometimes by intent, sometimes by accident, since the whole thing is dependent on the whim and skill of the tool maker grinding the cherries.

Sounds like you need to take a look at the Accurate Molds (dot com) website and look at the catalog, he has dimensional drawings of every design. The nominal caliber for .452" is simply "45" in his catalog, and since he will cut the final driving band diameter (and nose too on some designs) to your exact specs with the alloy you specify he leaves off most of the exact band diameter numbers on the drawing.

The 452490 will go over 250 grains. I have one that I've removed the GC shank on and it runs right at 260 grains./beagle

Beagle,

There may be an older 230 gr #452460, hope I have that correct.

I have a two cavity 452490. I haven't used it for a few years and I recall it casting at +/- 260 grains. What pictures do you need?
