They were intended for use with plastics, glues, and other non-metals.
That one is probably missing the cord, because some one fried it while using it for lead alloys.
Thought it was kind of limited in capacity

I thought with the 24.95 price and 24.95 shipping it was way over priced, even if had a cord and was working. I'd rather have the old heated cup with a pour spout that came with the lead soldier casting sets.

I saw that over a month ago. It looks like a good idea, but you would need another pot to keep feeding it.
Of course to the fried cord turned me off too.
