Im looking for some starting loads for the .30cal-247gr. whisper boolit.

I would like to use IMR4227 , WC680 powders if possible in 308,30-06, 30-338 .
I havent seen anything listed for this heavy of boolit .

Powder choice is too slow. Try something like Red Dot burning rate. I use Trail Boss in my 30-06 with great results, I know it would work in all those you listed.

Im running IMR 4895 in my 30-06's with that bullet with pretty good results.

I ran 15gr of 2400 under it in 308Win. I got something in the neighbourhood of 1500fps. The muzzle report was more boom than crack. It dug a grapefruit sized hole in the dirt backstop.

247gr at 1500fps?

what kind of drop do you get at 100 and 150?

or does anyone know the BC of this 30CalCM?

1500fps is what I would like to get from the 308 and '06 but would like to try for 1800-2000fps from 30-338Win. if possible.

Thanks

I'm guessing you bought the gas checked version?

I swapped for some in plain base but if I can get a reasonable base line of accuracy at lower velocity with them I will get a mold and work with moving up in velocity .

2000 fps is easy in a 30-06..... makes a thumping load.

Oh! You said Whisper loads, I thought you meant subsonic. Yeah, IMR 4895 would work great for 2000 fps.

Lol ......figured I should clarify what I was after . I was just referring to the bullet , I saw it called the 247 Whisper and thought that was what it was.
Am going to try for 'cat sneeze' in 762x39 and 308.

Gas checked or not?

No GC. I figured 1500 was about the top end for a PB boolit.

Try something around 7gr of Unique in the 308.

Been there, done that.

I have yet to try this in 7.62x39.

One more question, did you use any filler?

I've got the accurate 245gr gc version of this boolit, I am planning on starting with 35gr H4895 and see where that goes in my 30-06.

Nope. Unique is fast enough that no filler is needed and the load is position independent. There is no need to tip the muzzle up to settle the powder before pulling the trigger. Just chamber and fire.
