Hi

Last summer I acquired a 6x45mm (5.56mm necked up to accept a .243 boolit) AR-15 upper from a forum member here.

This Spring’s project is to work up some loads for the weapon.

I have been able to find “J-Word” loads on-line, …..but so far, I have been unable to find any cast boolit data.

Has anyone here had any cast boolit experience with this caliber???

My main consideration is reliable functioning: ……“Minute-of-Woodchuck” accuracy will be just fine.

Thanks for looking!

Kent

I can run some numbers through QuickLoad for you. I need your barrel length, oal of the cartridge, powder your going to use and the boolit weight to do it. I have a 6X45 AR and kimber bolt action. I found that the 100 grs (98 grs) bullet is too long to stabalize. I got a lighter mould for it but haven't had a chance to try it. I also could use the velocity target you are after.

need a set of dies for it? I have one. :)

Let me know how it goes for you. I'm trying a 25-223 in AR and will give cast a go and see how it works.

klcarroll, I have a little experience with the cartridge. There's a lot of variables at play in the AR system, twist rate, gas tube length, bullet weight, etc. One bullet I'd suggest for you is soon to go into production. It's here: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=124042 and some of my experience with the cartridge and a 1/8 twist Obermeyer is here: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=121224&highlight=6x45
I think the 4895 to 4350 burn rate is about the best for loads that will function a rifle length gas system.
