For those of you interested a couple of pretty amazing things happened at the International Single Shot Association Schuetzenfest at Raton recently. In the bench rest match...a 50 shot match....5 targets....10 shots at each target....distance 200 yards...bullseye measures 1-1/2 inches.....with a possible 250 points per target
While most shooters are breech seating bullets they are shooting at 1200-1500 fps so wind is a real factor and a Schuetzen rifle has to be the most ungainly thing to shoot from a bench the results were pretty neat.
The winner of that match fired a 249 on his first target then backed it up with FOUR 250's. Simply unheard of. He used a gain twist barrel form a Canadian maker.
What's even more amazing though is the third place winner, also shooting a barrel from the same maker...BUT...it was made from a piece of stress relieved structural re-bar....read that again...re-bar. The maker didn't even turn the outside of the re-bar so the devised a glue and wire arrangentment to hold the scope on....that folks is way cool....smiles.
