Kimbers Recoil spring, One end is nice and round and finish, other end isnt, like cut off with a side cutters, One end goes on top under the recoil spring plug. Thanks, Joe

Yep that is it. The better looking end goes in the plug. Ron

I think the nice end goes on the op rod and the cut end goes in the plug. Its work that way for me the last two years and over two thousand rounds.

Was there a question?
nice end fits onto the guide rod. that's how it comes from Kimber, or I should at least specify that's how mine came, and that's how I install the aftermarket ones on my other 1911s

Joe,

I can't remember which way the spring was on my Kimber when I got it, but it had a full length guide rod in it (which I replaced with a GI surplus parts).

When we still had 1911-A1's on board ship, the maintenance cards said to put the (tight) finished end on the guide rod and the looser end in the plug.

Nice end on recoil spring guide, cut end into recoil plug.

Nice end goes on the guide rod. That extra little return coil that makes it "look nice" also reduces the ID just enough to make it a snug fit on the slightly larger diameter section of the guide rod helping to keep the spring ID centered around the rod OD.

Mine came from the factory with the nice end in the plug. I wonder if they sent it out wrong? Ron

Nice end on recoil spring guide, cut end into recoil plug.

+ 1

All 1911's come this way.

Just ask a custom smith.

Several folks got it backwards. The last 5 or 6 are right. Military 1911 spring plugs
have a little tit punched out that the raw end screws into to retain the plug onto the
spring. Doesn't work the other way. More proof.

If you had a good gun like a sig they have nice ends on both ends and will out shoot a kimber or colt as I have all 3 and the sig is one that gets used

Seems to me that the end thats small you want to stay on the guide rod, but it also seems to be that the other end functions better if it does not constrain the guide rod.

Gee, I always thought that my Kimber 1911 TLE/RL2 was a great shooter.

It's not a Kimber thing or anything about the gun being "good".

ALL 1911s use this type spring since the beginning.

I can hit golf balls at 25 yards with my clunky old Kimber Ultra carry. Don't think I could do any better with a "good" gun.
