Does anyone have one of these? Or maybe just handled or fired one. If so, what is your impression of it? I haven't yet found one to handle but I like the looks of it.

Thanks,
Mike

I haven't shot the 358, but have shot the 243 in the same gun.
I couldn't find anything to gripe about the way it handled.

This gun in .358 Win is a very rare gun indeed. They have only made it a few times and even then not many. The .358 win is not one of the popular calibers. This gun tends to be made in the most popular calibers, like .243, .308, .30-06, .270 , 7MM and 300 mags.

There have been several other chamberings but They have been very short runs and not repeated year after year. One of the most sought after is the .223 version.

Many people don't understand that a gun manufacturer will produce a gun in a common caliber because it sells the most units in that caliber so its worth doing. Sometimes they may take a chance and make a run in a less popular caliber to see how they sell. These guns are immediately sold to a big distributor, and if they sit on the shelf, then they don't get reordered any time soon. If it sells then the distributor requests more of the same.

The most popular calibers for the BLR are as soon above. Others are only going to be built in limited quantities. I doubt .358's were made in runs of more than one hundred, and that one hundred would last several years.

I would call the big distributors like Davidsons, or Lipseys and ask them if they can provide one.

I personally would like a .308 strait stock lightweight takedown BLR, but I have never seen one other than at the SHOT Show.

Otherwise it is just a crapshoot if you will ever even find one. If you see one in .358 Win. I suggest that you buy it immediately, as I doubt you'll ever see another.

I seldom see a savage in 358, but actually see the blr 's pretty often.

358 win is a standard chambering in the BLR

There are 7 BLR 358s on gunbroker, and even one savage, but it has a 1,750 minimum bid on it.

The 358 is pretty popular up here, and their are a few that love the blr. I have only ever shot the one, but like I said there was nothing to complain about with it. I am a lefty and partial to levers though.

I have one but it isn't a LW version. I like it but not as well as the pre 81 BLR I have in 308.

Thanks guys for the comments, I guess I'm getting the bug for a 35 caliber rifle and this model caught my eye. I really didn't expect any negative comments but you never know these days this companies cheapening things up and all. I think I'll start saving my money and try to find myself one.

Thanks,
Mike
