I had my 44 magnum Model 92 at the range today after getting a Williams FP sight installed. I know that everyone has to replace their front sight after getting this sight put on, so I shot a couple of groups to gauge how much more blade I'll need.

With the sight cranked all the way down, I was still 12 inches high at 50 yd. Has anyone had a similar experience? Doing the math, I need a 0.582 front sight. The OEM sight is 0.435 inches high; the adjustment is 0.147 inches.

Just curious if I'm the only one that's had a swing this large. I was expecting about half that.

Greetings
Till you get a new higher sight you can expoxy a round piece of brass rod (or whatever) to the top of the front site. Have done this with several firearms and a couple still remain the same.

My Winchester & Winchester clones with Williams receiver FP & 5D peeps all require/zero with front sight blades mounted directly in a barrel dovetail .600" high.

My thanks for the replies.

I'll be nosing around the gun shop tomorrow. Hopefully I find what I need, tap it home and do some more testing.

I Do believe sir a Marbles 57W front sight will put you in a proper shooting order for your Rossi 92.

I couldn't get that particular sight, so I bought this one instead. It's a Williams Firesight. I'll try it tomorrow or Thursday.

I do believe You may have to grind on sight to clear the barrel band which may weaken or destroy your fiber optic.
I had the same idea upon a time which fared badly

I filed the front band just enough so that it would clear the sight. The band appears to be aluminum.

I centred the rear sight and went to the range this afternoon. I forgot my punch at home, so I did not correct the windage. I started cranking the rear sight over, but did not like it so I stopped.

As you can see, the new sight has corrected the problem. All is well again.
