Has anyone ever thought of trying to get either the 8mm KARABINER or 8MM MAXIMUM (Midsouth moulds) to fly subsonic in a 98 Mauser?

There are quite a few owners of the recent NOE 247 gr. WHISPER bullet mold GB who are trying to launch this at Mach 1 (1100 fps), with some interesting results using certain powders (Trailboss, to name one) in 30-06 rifles.

I thought I would throw this question out to the intrepid trailblazers to see whether anyone else has asked themselves this question.

I haven't tried it but there's no reason it wouldn't work. Trailboss ought to work well there too.

Might want to check if this boolit will be stable. Keep in mind that the 247 whisper boolit needs 1-8 twist to stabilize at subsonic.

It works fine in my 1:10 twist 30-06 and 1:9.5 7.62x39.

250gr. Jacketed bullets need 1:8 but the cast boolits are more dense and stabilize in a slower twist.

Nobade, I've just come into possession of a 30-06 and I have this mold, what are your loads for 30-06 with the 247gr?

11.0gr. Trailboss. Std. large rifle primer. I cast the boolits from air cooled wheelweights, fill one lube groove, and seat to the crimp groove. It's quiet enough to not ring your ears without ear plugs, and hits amazingly hard on steel gongs out to 300M.
