Can Silicone work in BP pan lubes?

In my quest for a cheap and available source of lanolin I ran across this:

Fiebings blended silicone-lanolin saddle oil 16 oz. Liquid leather softener-preserver. 4.99 at Tractor Supply.

Question: Is Silicone useful? or detrimental? to pan lubes for BP cartridges? Did a search but nothing seemed to apply.
