Hi guys!

Shot some gaschecks made with the "free chexII".

I used .016" thick sheet Aluminum.

They worked fairly well. I shot two 3.5" groups (5shot) at 200 yards with my #311299 boolets.
In my .308win.

I hope to cut that down by an inch or so through load development.
I shot one load using IMR4895. It grouped in at around 2.850" at 200.
I was very pleased with that!

My Varget loads shot VERY well! O got the firsr 4 of 5 into 1.8", and the fifth expanded it too 2.3" ish. I have got 2245fps. Out of that load. Lots of speed indeed!

IMR 4350 shot nearly as well, but got only 2050fps with the charge I was using at first.
My second load got 2175fps.

I hope to bump up that speed to 2300 or so with comprable accuracy. That would be awsome!

My velocities are from my memory, but I can post exact figures in a day or two.

The 311299, & 311644 both shot well today after being hollow pointed with the forster jig set up.

Take care you guys and I will keep you posted on future developments.

Can't argue with success. Good for you.

I have found that a HPed boolit will often shoot better. Moves the centre of gravity back.

Sounds like excellent shooting!
Keep dialing it in and you'll have a tack drivin load yet.
Any one of those groups is plenty tight for a workin load. :holysheep
But let's see how tight you can get it.

Sonny pie:

LOL! How true it is! No matter how good a guy does, we always want to do better.
That is where the fun is. think, test, modify,test,improve,test,evaluate,test............ ...
aint it great?!

It just takes time to test this stuff in the north country. Between weather, family obligations, bad colds, work, road conditions, on and on, and on.......etc.

Hopefully the home made checks will deliver the same accuracy.

Got my 311299 hp back yesterday and can't wait to start casting and testing. I had the forward driving band lengthened so I can seat the bullet deeper and improve feeding reliability. I hope I can get results simaler to yours.

FreeChex III is the way to go. One stroke and you're done. About a thousand an hour.

Thanks for the replies you guys!

Lead chucker, I sent you a p.m,
I really look forward to your results!

I have and will be shooting factory checks for a while yet to establish a performance base line.

Then i will have something to compare to.
