I am putting a new take off barrel on my new to me Marlin 336. I just slugged the throat today to find that there is no throat. The slug goes from rifling to cartridge case diameter. There is a small radius maybe .002 wide between the rifling and where the chamber starts. Tried to measure it maybe its .359 not sure

The bore size is .358 (35 Remington cal)

Should I use a .359 or .360 diameter bullet and sizer?

I plan on ordering a mold from Accurate when I figure this out.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for bullet type/shape that will feed and shoot accurately.

I was thinking either 36-250B or 36-250C

Forget about the accurate mold, go with the ranch dog or the noe copy in 190 gr. I have never heard of anyone that could not get this design to shoot well in a marlin.

I use a Saeco 352 in my Marlin in 35 Rem. Despite the fact that it has a short front driving band, it still fouls on the rifling when loaded to the crimp groove. Other than this issue the bullet shape and length is good one to use in the 35 Rem. I use a Lee FCD to crimp in place so it functions and clears the rifling - it works well and is very accurate. I size bullets to 0.360.

I use the RCBS 35-200 FN or the Ranch Dog sized .360 lubed with Felix and get excellent results.

Only one I've tried is the RD, his site has lots of good info on Marlin bores & chambers as well-especially the .35 Rem.

Forget the boolit, get a finish reamer and finish the job!

This is typical of most lever guns, I suppose theres a explanation but it is a moot point as you can get bullets to shoot superbly with it just the way it is. Note; who ever said you "need" a throat anyway, Roy Weatherby? (LOL)
Anyway, I have the same gun and with same measurments and size my bullets at .359. My mold is a NOE RCBS 200gr. clone and is very accurate, in fact it duplicates jacketed loads. Then again who said jacketed should be more accurate than cast, once again, (LOL).
I have more than a few molds from Accurate, it is, as always, an excellent choice. In fact i just had him make me a mold to duplicate the NOE RCBS clone for my 348 WCF, but added 20 more grains and a bit wider meplat.

Is that an XLR barrel? I had a Marlin XLR rifle in 35 which had zero throat, a gunsmith recut the chamber and made it into an accurate rifle.

A finish reamer won't help. A throating reamer will but I don't see the need unless the gun will not shoot with the standard chamber. All of my Marlins shoot fine with the factory chamber however I have throated numerous bolt guns to accept certain boolits.

Btw my rifle when I first got it would only chamber that Flextip ammo but no other factory ammo or reloads.

Made my sort of wonder if Marlin might have made the chamber that way deliberately...

One more thing, you may want to rethink your bullet choice to something in the 200-20 grain range, no real reason why you cant go heaviear, but, 200's just seem to shine and the extra weight is really not needed.
As far as no throats go on some of the above posts. I have 2 browning 71's in 348 WCF, making a throat slug on both revealed, NO THROATS! Yet they shoot as accurate as I can shoot them, which by the way aint bad, concidering irons and 50 y.o. eyes. I am wondering, IF, I was to have them throated some, will they shoot better, as in a 1 hole group for 5 at 100yds?LOL.
