I don't use tite group--it twere'nt around when I started shooting and reloading, but my1938 Mauser-made Luger likes Herco loaded hot. I use 6.2 grains herco under the Lyman 358-242 120 grain ( though mine weigh a few grains more) boolit. With my gun, If I try to load down, I get mucho malfunctions. I have to run pretty close to or at the top to get reliable function.

Lugers were designed to use the standard velocity ammo of their day - that was <1100 fps. If the springs are ok ( and that should be one of the first things you check) I'd start with a load producing about 1050 fps.

Also watch the overall length. Modern ammo is a little shorter than the original specification. I'd try 29.5 to 30 mm.

There are good discussions over at lugerforum.com
