I just ordered the above mold to use to cast bullets for a 44-40 colt new service revolver. I intend to use wheel weight lead and resize to .427 and put on gas checks. Does this sound feasable for this old of a gun. Gun seems to be in good shape

It may well be feasible, but expect it not to shoot to point of aim. I doubt the need for gas checks on this gun. Unless you are going to try to make it a junior grade magnum, plain-base boolits will work just as well. Were it mine, I'd fire up the pot and stick my old Lee 44-200 fn mold under it and cast til I got tired. The 200 grain boolit is closer to the standard 44-40 round and will be easier to get to regulate.

What R.T. Glen said. Try to get the revolver throats and the barrel groove diameter confirmed before spending money on sizing tools, this caliber can surprise you. E.g., my Winchester '73 (1897) has .429" throat and grooves. Measure twice/cut once, as the old carpenter said.

What are the steps for getting the revolver throats and barrel groove diameters ?
Thanks, Rod.

I have a 427205 DC someplace if you want to try it.

Made for the 44-40.

I bought it way back when I was looking for a "light" 44 cal PB boolit mold.

Let me know via PM or email.
