Ok I am a no means a gunsmith nor do I claim to be:

Recently I bought 3 barrel blanks from an auction I couldn't believe how cheap they sold for which is the only reason I bought them.

Upon inspection of my steel of a deal I now know why they sold so cheap. There is no rifling[smilie=b:

Each blank is marked with its size but thats it! There is no chamber or rifling

My question is are these worth trying to find someone to rifle them or just a a bartering tool when looking for lead at the local scrap yard? Of course this mean cost effectiveness.

If they are worth anything can someone suggest a man to make me a usable barrel out of them?

there are guys advertising in Rifle mag that "rebore". Obviously they can rifle a smooth
barrel, since they bore out an existing barrel and then rifle it. I'd check with one of
them.

It most likely will cost more to have your barrels cut rifled than buying a new button rifled barrel. If the barrels already had a contour they can not be button rifled. Another thing is you don't know what type of steel they are made from unless you have the makers name.

If they are 45 caliber blanks and you are mechanically inclined, this may be a possible solution.

One day I'm going to build a rifling machine. My plan is to take otherwise ruined 303 Brit barrels and open them up to something like 35 or 375 or even 40 or maybe only 8mm.
