Just got back from a local smith who ran the .357 Max reamer into my .357 Mag HandiRifle. He showed me how most of what the reamer cuts out is just the 'forcing cone' section of the mag chamber! Took like 15 minutes and most of that was set up in the vice and cleaning between shallow cuts.

My suburban lifestyle doesn't support lots of spontaneous shooting. But now I can load and shoot some Max!

Looking at putting a 2-7x scope on top for deer hunting combo.

Turns out that he had the 'rifle style' throat reamer not the revolver stye forcing cone reamer- just what I had hope for!

Sweet! I really like the MAX in my TC handgun. I'm sure it will rock in the Handi.

Ahhhhhhhh another 357MAXFAN in the making.

I am only kinda sorta partial to THEE MAX

Now you just need some 180 grain gaschecked flatnose boolits, some Remington 7.5 sparkplugs and some Vhit N120 or Alliant MP300.

has anyone done this with a chucking reamer of appropriate size? Using Max Brass as a gauge?

I did it by hand using a .357 Max case as a guage. You can borrow a reamer on Graybeard Outdoors for a $20.00 fee. 15 minute job.

I had a 357 Max in a TC 14" I should have keeped it. I decided I needed a 7MMTCU. I used to shoot 357 Mags and 38 specials in it along with lots of 357 Max. The 38 special shot very well out to about 25 yards but gets a little wild out beyond that. The 357 Mag shot well out to about 50 yards with the same results beyond that. The 357 Max with a 210 gr. Round Nose Flat Point boolit at about 1700 FPS shoot real well out to 200 yards.

Yes, I did mine with a chucking reamer. I am not sure now of the diameter, but I measured the chamber with a gauge pins and got a reamer the same size as the largest pin that would go. I measured the depth with the same gauge pin also. Don't use a cartridge case. When I was finished the throat that was left was just about perfect.

I shoot mine with a 215 gr. paper patched boolit over all the Lil' Gun I can get in there and it pretty well does the same thing as factory loaded 35 Rem ammo. (Don't try this with groove diameter boolits. It will overpressure.)
