Last year, I had to have a 1911. The year before was an AR15. This year it was a lever gun. I have had my eye on a Marlin 336 in 35 remington at a pawn shop. The owner wouldn't go down on price and after about 6 months, I went to the pawnshop down the road. There was a beat up marlin 336 RC in 35 remington. The bore looked like it had grown mold and it had several places with some surface rust and some pitting. We settled on $300 and I took it home. I traded and bummed for some rcbs 35-200 and some lyman 358318 boolits and finally got to the range today. I had a cheap scope mounted up and here are the results at 100 yards. I really need to work on a consistent hold on the fore end off of bags. The first pic is the 358318 with H4895, second is rcbs 35-200 with 4895 and the last is RCBS 35-200 with H322. The H322 group is only 4 shots as I was getting low on ammo trying to get the cheap scope adjusted. I came home and swapped the nikon off of another rifle for when I get to the range again. I figure once I get a load worked up, peepsights will go on this and the nikon will go back where it came from.

Good start, stumbled across one awhile back and it's becoming one of my favorites. Had 4 in the rack last weekend @ the Ft Worth Cabelas. None really outstanding but was very odd to see that many in one place.
How'd the bore clean up?

Have you gotten a chance to slug it? Some like mine have generous bores, and need a bit fatter boolit. Great rifle/caliber. Have fun with it.

It looks like it was informative and fun. I just put a peep on my 45-70 and I am very happy with it, sight in was quick and easy.

The bore cleaned up pretty well. There is some pitting on the frame, but it gives some character. The recoil pad needs to be replace and someone gouged out the white bullseye in the stock. I slugged the bore at .358 and it seems to be working. A couple of fine, upstanding gentlemen from the board set me up with some boolits. I do have a mould and sizer, but no checks yet. I will be taking kids on spring break in a couple of weeks so I won't be getting back to it for a little bit.

Lever powder is working better than 4895 for me in RD311165 (30-30), with or without GC. Looks like normal vertical stringing from a lever gun.
