I put a word in on the local tradio show for casting equipment (really looking for molds) and a guy called me today with a Herters sizer and dies. He claims it takes Lyman Dies and he had 6 of them to go with the sizer ... (45 357 9mm 40, 30 and one other). Im really intersted in the dies. So, he wants 150 bucks for everything (Negotiable). what is a Herters worth? I think it is a little high. Any advise?

If I recall, the Herters lube sizer looks like a SAECO in many respects. There were a couple of models: One of them took a proprietary lube die that looked like a modern SAECO die, the other took the stanard Lyman.

If the dies are in good shape, they might go for 10-15 dollars a piece. If the sizer is in really nice condition, I'd say 50-60 dollars. -- All together, 125 - 150 might be the going rate. but, its really up you.

the price seems high...unless it's exactly what you've been looking for.

I would expect to see that on a gunshow table for $40ish
on E-bay, it might bring $80 (all inclusive).

unless you're a "hungry" herters collector, that's too much money.

mpbarry1,

I have three of the beasts and can say $150.00 is a bit too much. Unless it were unused, new condition I would not fork over more than $50.00-$60.00, dies or no dies.

They are a sturdy, well made machine not prone to mechanical failure as are Lyman and RCBS. The type that accept Lyman\RCBS dies also are made to use L\R nose punches. I prefer Perfessers' non-conformal to L\R.
