I wanted to run this by you gentlemen before proceeding, since there is nothing new under the sun. I intend to try the 8 mm Max boolet reduced to .311" in a 2 groove 03-A3 for use as a short range hog load. I've made up some of these by running them thru a .321" Lee push thru after lubing with Carnuba Red. I then sized them to .311" by pushing them base first thru another Lee ( to prevent gas check distortion). Checked and lubed the boolets weigh 249 gr. and are 1.305" in length. My question is in regards to powder/ charge wt. Lyman shows 25 gr. Re-7 as a starting load for the 210 gr. 311284 @ 22200 c.u.p.
Would a starting charge wt. of 20 gr. Re-7 be a reasonable place to start with the heavier boolet? I realize I might be walking into uncharted territory here. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Question; will the nose of that bullet enter the throat without severe deep seating of the bullet in the '06 case?

The base of the boolet is even with the shoulder/ case body junction which I realize is highly undesirable. I this dangerous?

sounds like you would rather have the THIS ONE! (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=133407) It is being ReRun.

I have it, to try in my .308 single shot..... maybe others.... Probably others....

with the full moon, and snow with a nice icy crust, it has been perfect Hunting weather! Too bad we can't! :)

Fill the lube grooves first and they won'd be 'erased' in the sizing process.

I have used a push through down to .314, but you are still talking about boolit down inside the neck,,, I stayed under 1500fps and did ok, YMMV,,,

Thanks for jumping in. I am looking for 1200 - 1400 fps if the 10" twist will stabilize the slug. I'm thinking the high sectional density will result in full penetration even using a softer alloy.
