I sent my 45-70 BC in for some warranty work and had them install a 25-06 barrel while it was there. I had about 200 loaded rnds. and no gun to shoot them in. I just mounted a cheap scope, I'll get something better on it.

Let us know how well it shoots (25-06)
I have about 175 rounds through my handi 25-06 and it is just starting to come around after I lapped the barrel.

How is it to shoot in .45-70? I've been looking at one of those for a "plinker" .

Mine will clover leaf them at 100 with my irons. ;) At 250 yards I get about a 6" group. ;)

Those BC's are great looking rifles. I wish H&R would bring back the 45LC version.

I stumbled onto a nice used Ultra in 308. The 25-06 barrel fits on that receiver very well so I mounted a 3X9 on the 25-06 and a straight 6X on the 308. Shot factory Federal Match 168 in the 308 and it's easily a MOA rifle or better. The 25 I had 200 1969 Mil 30-06 brass necked down to 25. They were loaded in 1996 for the Savage 112 I had. H4381 and a Seirra 100 gr SPBT 1625 I think is the stock #. Barrels not broken in but it'll but two touching and one high all inside an inch at 100 yards off my pick up hood. If I'd slow down and let the barrel cool I'm sure they would all touch. Pretty happy with it.

I wish they would make a .41mag.

They are quite beautiful. I originally went into the gunshop for an Ak47, but as I was walking out (without the AK), I passed by some long barreled rifles, turned back and picked one up and bought it.

Case hardened receiver, long barrel, .45-70...it is the perfect gun for me. And lovely to boot.
