Morning ,, i have had this little gun show find mold for a good while now ,i have not cast from it yet but was curious if this little boolit would work for a fun plinking / squirel load.
As you can see it's obviously a pistol mold but if it drops anywhere near .324 would it work in my mausers,,, boy it will have a heck of a jump to engage the rifling but it should be easy on the shoulder.
Ideal lists this boolit to weight in at a whopping 83 grns..
any thoughts,,,,:coffee:

I think that mold is for the Swedish Nagant pistol. It starts out at .324 and the bore is tapered to
.313 at the muzzle. It might work for the 8 mm rifle too! Best regards, the toolman.

Should also make a gallery type load for 32 Win. Spl. and 32-40. I have a similar boolit mould for the 8 m/m Nambu that I use in a BSA Aussie Martini Cadet that the importer marked as a 32-20. I expand the neck, load the .323" 90 gr. boolit into over 4.0 gr of Unique and have accurate functioning ammo for it.

I have always favored small bullets at high speed for my 30-06.
I cast 120g for plinkers and poppers in the hopes the Grandson will step up to the gun bench one of these trips. (He's my spotter right now.)
The 120g's have to pack a lunch to get to the rifling when fired. ;)
But they do fine for my casual powder burning.
Give it a try.

Oh, and I use Unique for my cast loads. A little goes a long ways.

I'd cast some up of a very soft alloy, TL in LLA and load in well fire formed 8x57 cases with 2.7 - 3.2 gr of Bullseye. Should work very well in .324 -.325 barrels if the bullet drops at .324 or larger, might have to use a harder alloy to do that. If it does then the harder would be fine. I'd also use dedicated cases that have the flash holes drilled out with a #28 drill. Velocity should be in the 800 - 900 fps range and accuracy should be quite good. I've loaded quite a few similar 90 gr 311227s over the same in my .308W and '06s, also in my 7.62x54Rs and 7.65 Argies.Excellent small game and plinking load, a lot of fun and very addictive.

Larry,
I'm not understanding why you are recommending the hard/soft alloy & what the relationship your suggestion has to the bore fit. Could you please explain that a little better?

Thanks,
Jim

That one was designed for the 8mm Nambu. should be good for plinking and small game with a little experimentation

As far as bullet jump goes I load 00 buckshot (.330") flush with the case neck in fired unsized cases. They are amazingly accurate to 50 yards in a Yugo 24/47.Have Fun.
