I was going through some 9mm brass that i received from a friend. All was going good till my press stopped in its tracks. My first berdan primer. Is this common in 9mm? Just wondering, I have only been reloading a few months.

I am definitely not an eggspurt in this field but have seen an increase of the the use of berdan primers from eastern bloc countries.

Discusting, but -------------------------

Anytime you have an unknown head stamp, make sure and check - rifle or handgun - a few cases to make sure they are not berdan.

Get them in good light and you will be able to see if they have a center flash hole.

Sometimes, as indicated on the last post, the off shore brass will just be good filler for the brass bucket.

Keep em coming!

Most anything foreign or military surplus may have Berdan primers.

Set all the berdan primed cases aside. When you have enough to fill a flat rate box, sell them to a swager for use as jackets.
