diameter for 338 cal trimmer spud

I need some advice on what diameter to make a trimmer spud for use in 338-06. I was asked about turning one for an obsolete case trimmer. Said sure should be another way to make chips in a useful way.

But.... I was not sure what diameter to make it. Should it be 2 to 3 under or 338 on the nose?

I don't own anything in 338 so have no idea.

It needs to fit inside a sized and expanded case neck. Expanded case neck should be about .002" below bullet diameter. Not very tight, not too loose, shouldn't grab when you turn the handle. Make it a little tight, polish it down?

thanks for the confirmation. I do not have a sized case but will get one done in his dies. I made one at .3375 that should be easy to polish down. If it doesn't work out, it will be easy enough to make more chips and build those skills.

the pilot ended up at .336 after he did some final polish to fit his sized cases. thanks for all your help.
