I have been casting fishing weights for years, Bullets are a new hobby !!!
My question is if I use a Lyman mold to cast bullets 175 gr 40 cal. will the
Lyman sizing die fit into my RCBS sizer? RCBS makes a 170 gr sizer. not a 175.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks,
Jeff

It should. and the top punch should also fit. The sizers are NOT weight specific! are you talking about the top punch?

Thank you Stubshaft, So the 40 cal sizer will work with any gr bullet you cast 170 gr. or 200 gr it is the top punch I need to look at, is that correct?

Yup, I use both Lyman and RCBS in my RCBS sizer, Lyman works just fine.
The RCBS and Lyman sizing dies are interchangeable, but they come in varying diameters, and you need to choose the proper one for your application.

The top punch is designed to work with a specific nose profile. I have on occasion used different top punches knowing that the tip of the boolit may be shaped differently by using it. I have also on occasion used a basic top punch and using JB weld or 5 minute epoxy fashioned a custom TP for a specific boolit. IIRC - Buckshot and The Perfesser make kits to do this too.
The sizing die is designed for a specific diameter. There is an adjustment on your sizer to allow the depth of the boolit to be varied, which also affects the amount of lube grooves filled.

Codzilla, welcome aboard. Could you explain exactly what it is you are asking about? Moulds come in weights, sizer dies come in diameters. For a 40 cal pistol you'll be looking at a sizer in the .400-.403 diameter range. This link will take you to a sizer die- http://www.midwayusa.com/product/238922/rcbs-lube-a-matic-lube-and-sizer-die-401-diameter

Are either of these what you meant?
