If you are new to hand loading and/or casting, PLEASE augment your library with as many vetted sources of information you can get.

Great point. I only have 6 loading manuals,a Speer,a Serria,a Hornady and Lyman's 43,47,48.

6th Lyman shotshell and a couple of powder manif pamphlets Winchester and Hurcules I think.

Saved hard copy www. pages from Alliant,IMR/Hogden for a couple of cartridges.

I have a few pages of bullet manif. hard copy for things like the Speer 100gr "Plinker" 30 cal swaged bullet too, though I've never seen them for sale.

Plus a personal book w/ sections for each gun/cartridge of what did and didn't work w/sited load manual s for load data.

That is a great point. I always snap up those old manuals at garage sales and such. While fresh data books are necessary, I'm drawn to the older ones, where their articles seemed less reserved than nowadays and more meaty in information. I have eleven manuals total.

legends and myths?
it has been made with two different primer sizes..true.
it has higher pressures than the 45 colt....true.
dick developed his origonal loads with triplex powders....true
the case has been wildcatted to the 40,38,30,and the 22.....true, dick himself has built guns and worked up loads for those wildcats.
the 454 has a rimless semi-autotype case little brother......true, it's called the 450 magnum.
cases can be made by slightly shortening the 454 cases and turning down the rims.
dick was a partner with n.a.a. and they developed the gun and the round.
the gun resembles the early freedom arm revolvers.
yes i have one and an original box of factory ammo [the gun also had a 45 colt and 45 win mag cylinder as an option]
