View Full Version : Lee powder measure and boolits
I'm thinking of using 200 gr rnfp because that's I'm loading right now. Let me know if ya'll think 240 gr tl will work better. Also, should I shoot the hopper first or go straight for the mechanism.

Lee actually has a very good powder measure. If you don't like it maybe you can donate it to a new loader that needs reloading items.

+1 on the power dispenser from Lee, but measure the power dispensed with the scale each time you change it instead by the instructions. Those will only get you close to a ballpark figure. I was off by a full .5 grains when I skipped that step. Two scales also make for great redundancy.

Definitely the 240TL and if you don't want to donate it go for the mechanism.

i found a ball bat made me feel much better when dealing with defective equipment.
if you have a straight powder dump the lee does pretty good with short grain stick powder.
if it's the little cc dump thing on a press.
go to town, id probably use the 200 the 240 and then finish it off with the bat, and a good pair of boots.

I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands. PM me as to what you want for ity. I've been looking for another one. Don't destroy it, its a good measure.
I'm not ready to give up on it yet, just a little frustrated. With green dot it's very inconsistent, with Autocomp it either leaks or the handle is so tight I can't get a consistent stroke. When something dosen't want to work I have a habit of saying, "all it needs is a bullet."

If you are talking about the Lee Perfect Powder Measure, it is the most accurate PM i have. Try lubing the cylinder with graphite powder. Some have lapped it with a mild abrasive.

I like to lube it up with a number two pencil .

The pencil method has worked for me, redo it about every six months. Can't always find my jar of graphite, but I can always find a pencil.

Lubed with graphite and then ran some through the measure like it was powder, and ran almost a pound of Green Dot. Yes it is a Perfect Powder Measure. The good news is publicly threatening to shoot it has helped. I weighed 10 charges of Autocomp earlier tonight. 7.0, 7.0, 7.0, 7.1, 6.9, 6.9, 7.0, 6.9, 7.0, and 6.8.

I use an old lee auto disk with 231 in my dillon 550 for my .45 I polished out the cavity to get the exact drop I wanted and I've been shooting the same load for at least 15 years. I do check it on my chargemaster from time to time but it has stayed exactly the same. I've never changed powder so I can't speak to that. But I'm always looking for used ones to set up on other pistol calibers. Your mileage may vary...
