View Full Version : Alloy differences with diameter differences?

Guys,

I have been casting using a Lee 6 Cav 38 358 TL RN. When I first started casting I used a 1 lino/1lead mix and was getting oversize boolits .360+/- and had to size them...no big deal.

I wanted to try a softer boolit so I mixed up 1 lino/3 lead. Now the boolits are popping out right at .358

Is this normal? Harder alloys cast larger diameter?

Still learning something new every day.

lead= smaller
less lead= bigger
page 58 of the lyman manual gives you an idea of how much.

lead= heavier
less lead= lighter too.

alloy and mold temp can makes things bigger and smaller too.
