My friend inherited his Dad's 30 Carbine rifle and wanted to reload for it. After pricing jacketed for it I decided to cast for it. In my mold collection was a Lee 311-120rn single cav. that I gave $5 for on Ebay 7 years ago. I cast more than 100 of them, sized and gas checked and lubed with Carnuba Red on my RCBS lubesizer to .311 (they dropped at .312), then sized them to 309 through a Lee push through. The .311 gave problems loading. A search here gave some good loads and I decided to start with 12 gr. H110 and Fed. SR primers. I may have ended my search there! They shoot better than jacketed and no leading or other problems. I will definitely be getting at least a two cavity mould (the custom fee for a six cav. is daunting, but will get the 309 dia. Any one want to do a group buy for a six cav.?
I did a search and found the group buy for the 311-115 RN. Sweed Nelson still has some up to 5 cav. Need to talk to my friend.

think you have got it figured out. That bullet feeds in every 30 m-1 carbine I have tried it in. The Lee 113gr RFN is also a good bullet but does not want to feed in one of my rifles. I size most of mine for the 30 carbine at .310" due to one barrel with a slightly larger bore.
I too have found the cast shoots better than most jacketed except for the Sierra 110gr JHP. This is a spitzer and shoots MOA at 100 yards.

Leadman,

Do you single load the Sierra spitzer or is it at magazine length?

You want an awesome .30 Carbine jacketed load try the Hornady .30 cal 90 gr XTP over 16 gr H110.

I don't find that one in my references. 311114 is 100 gr. and 311116 is 112 gr. What is 311115?
Ah! the Swede Nelson group buy?
