I found these in a wall in an old house, I was wondering what an approximate age would be? Thanks! http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh83/dubber123/old%2045-70%20bullets/104_0289.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh83/dubber123/old%2045-70%20bullets/104_0292.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh83/dubber123/old%2045-70%20bullets/104_0290.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh83/dubber123/old%2045-70%20bullets/104_0284.jpg

Well, there's no zip code in the address so they're pre-63 for sure. Don't beyond that, sorry.

Primer makes me think '30's or older but have little to base it on.

Likely valuable to a cartridge collector.

Don't shoot until you check that out. Might be worth a few dollars per round.

Thanks for the replies! I know it doesn't show well in the pics, but headstamp is: WRA 45-70 GOVT. Inside the box end it states: " To insure the complete absence of corrosive fouling, before commencing the use of Staynless Ammunition, both new and old barrels should be flushed inside with a hot solution of washing soda or soap. or with boiling water, and then wiped dry. We do not recommend the reloading of these shells." ==== Yes, the absence of a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence is how it's worded.. Also, the code of A87 29 is stamped on the end flap. I don't expect they have much for value, I just like old stuff. Thanks again.

Thanks, that narrows it down to pre-'46 anyways. They will look neat on the shelf with the other old odds and ends.

Nice Find Dubber. We got spoiled this winter. Smoehow I think you found a bit a snow to plow in the last few days. Got about a foot on the last deal over here in Chester. 2 inches with ice then rain on top this morning. Got it blown off before it got too heavy.

Contact Winchester-Olin, they may still have the information as to when that lot # was loaded.

Nice find. The "Division Of Western Cartridge Company" would indicate that the box was made sometime between 1939 & 1945.
