Will this fit. I think all renegades are 1" and my hawken is 15/16".

I have heard that guys have done it. For me I tried it and I could not get it to work. The Barrel and tang just was not a work. Ron

Yes, the Renegade uses a 1" (across the flats) barrel, while the T/C Hawken uses a 15/16" barrel. While I've never tried it, I can't imagine that it would be a good fit. For one thing, there's going to be an extra 1/32" gap between the hammer and the nipple. You could bend the hammer that much, but why?

I am asking as I have a spare barrel and can pick up a renegade stock cheap.

I can't see why you can't make it work but no idea how much work until you try to match the two up.

You can glass bed the area between the barrel and wedge pin section for a solid fit. I'd consider doing that by the tang as well.

Glass bedding is one way. Fitting a splice of veneer into the channel is another way. I am willing to bet there are others. I have used bedding compound to take up channel space and on anther rifle fitted maple veneer. It depends on how the finished project needs to look.

T/C bbls. of .45cal. and .50cal., for the Hawken was 15/16". Renegade, bbl.s were 1", regardless of caliber. Thanks to frontier gander & Geraldo for correcting my error.

i use several 15/16 .45 and 50 barrels in my 1" stock and unbedded it shoots as well as in the proper stock. The wedge pin is tight due to it being higher but it works with no modifications. This may help it stay in place and shot well. The wood to metal gap is not all that noticeable. (unless you are just a freak of things being "right")

All renegades have 1" barrels.

54cal TC Hawken used a 1" barrel as well while the 45 and 50 hawkens used 15/16th.

T/C bbls. of .45cal. and .50cal., for both the Hawken and Renegade were 15/16". Those of .54cal., .56cal (smoothbore), and .58cal. were 1". However, since T/C bbls. were made by different manufacturers at different times, the bbl. diameter of some of the .54's may have been 15/16, but I'm betting they'd have been an exception rather than the rule.

Renegades were made in .50, .54, .56, and .58 and all were 1" barrels.

Hawkens had either 15/16" (.45, .50) or 1" (.54 and possibly other calibers).

Green Mountain has made 1" barrels in just about every caliber, and up to .54 in 15/16".

I might be willing to trade a 15/16" Hawken stock for a 1" Renegade stock depending on condition.

i've always prefered the Renegade over the hawken. i wish T/C still made them.

me too, the tc hawken is a bad cheek slapper. I just finished up a renegade with a custom 1:60 twist 54cal barrel.[smilie=w:

I passed on the renegade stock and picked up a very nice hawken stock.

The Hawken in 58 is also 1 inch flats
I have both Renegade and Hawken and like them just fine but then I learned to use them several decades ago when it was all we had and you needed to be good with whatever you had at hand at the time.

For a target rifle it could be advantageous to use the 15/16" bedded into the Renegade stock.

I have a 15/16" Renegade. Never seen another one, but there it is. Was going to get a 1" .58 GM drop in for it, but measured just to be sure. Ordered a 15/16" .54 instead. It is a tack driver.
