I started shooting cowboy matches in 2008. I decided to start casting and scrounging wheel weights. I did pretty good in 2008 and 2009. I slowed down in 2010. I have about 2500lbs here at home. I kept good records of where I got it and how much I paid for it. I've read all of the accounts of wheel weights changing, but had never experienced more than about 5% in non-lead wheel weights.

I decided to start back up. I got about 40lbs yesterday. I invested three 12 packs of Coca-Cola to get them. I just sorted them.

5 lb SOWW
20 lb COWW
15 lb steel and zinc

Until today I had honestly never seen some of the weights featured in the sticky about sorting. Most of the non-lead weights in the past were steel. These were about half steel/ half zinc.
This sucks. I just don't know that I am willing to spend money on trash or pay the going rate on real lead wheel weights.

Around here you can't hardly buy them anymore.
Last week I thought that I lucked onto a bucket for 25 bucks.
I just can't throw a full bucket up on the truck anymore so the guy helped me.
I remember thinking that he was one strong fella.
It turned out to be 3/4 of a bucket of valve stems.:violin:
I still got about 50lb. out of it.
Not good but not skunked either.
