I came across an old Lyman mold today that I had purchased on e-bay years ago. It is a single cavity mold. The number on the mold is 358156. I looked on the Lyman site and it said that this number matched a double cavity mold(which this is not). Can anybody shed some light on this? Does anybody have this mold? Is it a gas checked design? Is it a good design? I hope it is because at a single bullet at a time it is going to take a long casting session to make a quantity of bullets.
Thanks

pretty common mould. Ideal and Lyman used to offer many moulds in single cavity. Nothing different other than tolerances perhaps. You may be surprised on how fast a single cavity can make boolits. All perfect too.

I have the 2-cavity version and it's a great bullet. I've shot it without gas checks at .38 Spl velocities and done fine. I do like to copper cap it for full throttle maggie loads.

It's one of the classic moulds for the 357 magnum. It's a keeper!
