This is from last saturday, Jen and I were out looking for wedding locations. I happend upon a defenseless little red squirrel and couldn't pass up the chance to blast him. I missed...but the 200gr soft lead hollowpoint made a heck of a hole in the ice.

There is a place out by White Pine that would be nice, my dad and I cant remember the name off hand, you can get out into the river on the rocks very easy and walk in the middle of the river for 1/2 mile or so.

Its just a public access to the Big Iron River, off of M-64

Here is are some pics taken in October of my dad and I,

That snow will be long gone. unfortunately, we had to wait til the beginning of may due to housing arraingements. otherwise we'd have gotten married before now and had a snowshoe wedding.:-D

Buckshot,

What you don't realize is that there are usually 11 months in the UP when you can get married in the snow. The last picture Redneckdan posted was taken in July. The skiing is often marginal up there in July....

it was never even really considered. if you knew Jen, you'd understand.

Let's see if I have this straight.

You're out looking for suitable wedding locations and caring a 'piece' on your hip.

She's obviously a fine lady and you should marry her before I do.

The next important question would be - what was she packing?

If I'm not at work or college classes I have my 1911 with me. Jen doesn't have her CPL yet and she really doesn;'t like stowing and unstowing it during multi car ride excursiuons like wedding scouting. When we go out for a normal woods walk she carreis her s&w 17-3 in .22 rimfire. She wants to get a beretta cougar, she didn't like the .45 frame but she did like the 9mm/.40 frame.

That's my own personal stretch of stream there in Dan's picture. My office is about a mile away, as the partridge flies. Shot a nice buck in the same general vicinity last fall.

I'd recommend bringing the 5wt.
