Anyone have, or know where I might get, 5 Boys anti tank rifle shells????
I found a stripper clip and want to make some dummy rounds to fill it up.
Can they be made out of 50BMG??????

I think the Boyes rounds are larger than the 50 BMG

My mistake I got the information wrong. The trouble when you get old and rely on memory instead of checking. I will try to do better next time.

Boys is quite a bit larger in the base than .50 BMG, IIRC.

.55 cal according to that link I provided.



ETA- Never mind about the .55 cal, but the rest of the dimensions are at that link. Misread your post Bill.

OK, 20.3 and 20.4 mm rim diameters. Since .1 mm is about .004", this is identical for
practical purposes. Case length is about 99 mm in both, so it looks like necking up to
.55 cal might make Boys cases from .50 BMG.

One issue is that anything larger than 50 cal is a destructive device, not sure what the
controls are, other than more onerous than for under 50 cal.

Found some dummies for sale on Auction Arms.
To pricy for me.
I'll just stick some 50BMG's in the stripper.

Is the Boys a belted case? If so, that adds a new wrinkle. I was just comparing
the rim diameter.

Yep! The bottom one is a Boys 55 cal. That site I found says they do use the 50 BMG.
