Finally got to put some cast Bator thru my Triple Deuce. Bought the mould 3 years ago! I can smack golf balls at 75yds with em. Don't know if that's good for some of ya, but minute-of-golfball works for me! I bought the mould from MidSouth after reading about it on here. Thanks Guys!
600 Remington in 222
Bator 55 GC, WW+2 % tin, sized .225", lubed with homemade.
8.1 gr SR4756
WSR primer
Seated to just show the top lube groove, just bumps my riflings.
Very light crimp, to straighten the M die flare.
No lead fouling!

Sounds good to me. Golf balls are are pretty small. I'm interested in the 222. Maybe one day .... You got photo's?

It would be good enough for most things I need to hit at that range, so I'd be happy with those groups too.

Good groups and great rifle to shoot them out of. I had one in 243 and it was a tackdriver.

My Rem mod 600 in 6mm Rem shoots cb's like a dream. It was the first rifle I ever bought with my own money. Still a great rifle

Several years ago, some of the guys on here got together and had a fella (Bator?) design a mold for Lee to cut. Was a group buy, I believe. Eventually, Midsouth Shooters Supply stocked the mold. It's a 55gr GC, straight-side, flat-roundnose design. Check it out on the Midsouth site. www.midsouthshooters.com

My Triple Deuce is a Rem 600, although most wouldn't recognize it as one. I cut the fore-end off to look more like a standard size rifle. Took the rib off the bbl and removed the studs, re-polished the bbl, reblued the whole thing. Looks like a miniature 700 except for the dog-leg bolt. Love that little gun

I've been contemplating a Bator mould but Midsouth doesn't even post a profile picture of it. Is it possible one of you fine fellows put a picture up for me?
Thanks,
Jeff

They used to have the drawing on their site, but it looks like they took it down.

Look down the page a bit in this thread.

Thanks Jim147, I at least have a good idea what style it is. Has anyone had any experience with this bullet in a CZ Hornet. Seems the prevailing opinion is this won't be that accurate.
Thanks,
Jeff

This sounds promising. Finding a cast load for my 222 is the next thing I want to do with that rifle and I believe I have that mould. (Bator) I have two loads already for full length gas checks that are excellent. Both shoot less than moa at 100yds. I will have to try your load and see how it does.

Let me know what you find AZ-JIM. SAORSA

sledgehammer001, thanks for sharing.

I'm working on some Reddot loads in .308 for the FR8 at the moment but have some Bator's cast up to work on a new short range groundhog load around my buildings here. I'm thinking about two starting points, one about 5 grains of Reddot and the other starting around 15 grains of IMR 4895.

I'll let you know how it goes. I can run about 5/8" with 50 grain jacketed over 24.5 of Varget even as bad as my eyes are. I have an old 722 that I got for nothing after being stored out in a garage and having the barrel filled up by mud dobbers.

I have had good results using 4.5 grains of 2400 behind the 22 bator (close to a 22 mag duplicate). Also 12.7 grains of 'lil gun for a near full power load. Both loads were using a federal small pistol primer. I have gotten 1 moa groups but one and a quarter are closer to average. (sometimes the flier will go to the center of the group instead of the edge). All boolits were heat treated and gas checked. The boolits were seated to just kiss the lands and sized to .225. The cases were winchester and neck sized only. and shot from a Handi Rifle.

The biggest problem that I found loading the hornet is that due to the small case size even little variations become significant in relation to the total charge.

Went out shooting last sunday with my best friend. He has a 222 in Savage 340, bolt action. He shot my loads for my Rem 600, in his Savage. Did excellent in his gun. NO leading either. He liked them so much, I sent him home with 50 rounds of my stuff. He want to know about my loading some of his empties with my load :) Guess they work ok..... I posted pics of the bullet and load in my pics. Try to post pics of the Rem 600 after my modifications, asap.

I kept my mod 600 as is. Always thought the vented rib looked cool. I will be taking it to NCBS in June with some very special loads that will not be used on the ground squirrels in the area. It is beginning to sound like any 600 in any caliber will love cast boolits.
