Well with a lot of work you could probably make it out of carcano brass. Not worth the effort. Frank

The 7.62x39 has a unique base diameter. Only thing you do easily would be its' derivatives, 6PPC, 220 Russian, etc. New boxer 7.62x39 brass is easy to come by.

If you were trying to do the Czech 7.62x45, it would be another matter entirely.

I've looked at swaging Carcano brass down, (I have a 7.62x45 VZ-52). You have to swage it all the way - the base of the Carcano is 6-8 thou bigger than 7.62x39 or 45. Since there's zero commercial ammunition for the VZ-52, it might be worth while, (when and if I ever run out of the old milsurp stuff).

why? 762x39 is one of the easiest ones to find once fired.

Just wondering if it was possible with a standard cartridge reformed
like the 308???

new 7.62 39 brass is running $ .40each
costs more for empties than buying loaded steel cases or surplus stuff
